By default in 2c8 Apps, it is not possible to make changes to approved models. This is because an approved model is considered to be correctly described. To make changes, you need to create a new version of the model, as the content of the model is somehow changed from when it was last approved. However, in some cases there may be a need to make minor changes to approved models, for example if you discover a spelling error or if you want to link a field without having to create new versions of lots of models. In this article we explain how to make changes to approved models, but also which changes are possible to make.
Activate "Edit locked revisions".
1. The first thing to do is to start the 2c8 Administration Tool. You do this by clicking from the repository manager on "Tools" - "Start Administration Tool..."
2. Log in to the server where you want to apply the Administration Tool feature. Select the repository to which you want to apply the feature and then click the edit pen to edit the repository configuration.
3. Under the "General" tab, check "Edit locked revisions" and then click "Save" in the upper left corner.
Edit an approved model
When you now try to edit objects or information in a model in the repository you applied the function to, you will now get the option to "Edit approved version". For example, if you double-click on an object in the model to change the label, you will get the following dialog:
You can then click "Edit approved version" to change the label without having to create a new version of the model.
If you right-click on an approved object or model and select "Properties", you can click on the "Edit approved version" button to change the properties.
Changes that cannot be made to an approved model when "Edit locked revisions" is enabled
All object properties and model properties can be changed by editing an approved model. The following parts cannot be changed in an approved model even though "Edit locked revisions" is enabled:
