You can use ID for web to make the URL to models or objects in the published material more readable, shorter, or easier to read.
All objects and models in 2c8 Apps has a unique ID in order to identify objects or models as "the same" during import and export between repositories, even if the object or model exists in different versions with different data. An ID also gives a unique URL referring to an object or a model in the published material. The automatically generated ID for objects and models looks something like this: 0e841ebb-b4ad-42d7-9e7e-2ea5d474ed08
You can check the automatically generated ID of your model or object by right-clicking it and then choosing "Properties" and the tab "ID and permissions".
Say that the above ID is an ID for your start model in your repository. The URL for this specific models would look something like this in the published material: https://www.publications.com/published/#/0e841ebb-b4ad-42d7-9e7e-2ea5d474ed08/
To make this URL more clean, you can add an ID for web, which would result in the URL looking more like this: https://www.publications.com/published/#/start/
In the image below, you can see that we added an ID for web titled "start", which would result in the URL shown above. To edit the ID for web, you right-click on the object or model and then choose "Properties" - "ID and permissions".
If you cannot see the option "ID for web" in the properties dialogue of an object or a model, you need to check this function in Administration Tool for your repository. |
