A repository configuration is a set of rules that apply in your repository. The idea with a repository configuration is that all users should model in the same way and thus get uniform models. A repository configuration is created in the 2c8 Administration Tool under "Tools" - "Start Administration Tool.." and can be applied to both an existing and a new repository.
The following parts of a repository are determined in the repository configuration:
- Which models, objects and relationship types should be allowed in the repository.
- Which objects should be allowed in which model types.
- Which relationships should be recommended between different objects.
- Which objects should be displayed as swimming lane objects in swimming lane models, as well as which relationship objects placed in the swimming lane should have. You can also choose whether changes here are allowed in the repository.
- What default size object should have.
- Which alternative objects/symbols should be available.
- Whether Quick Selection/Quickdraw should be used and which suggestions should appear for which objects.
- General settings regarding fonts, model surface and other settings as shown in the image below:

Drafts from 2c8 Lite that are placed in a repository do not automatically follow the repository configuration on which the repository is based. This means that drafts that come from 2c8 Lite may look different from models in the repository, regarding size of objects, etc.
