In 2c8 Modeling Tool, you can choose to publish your material in several different languages, in the same publication. The end users can then have the opportunity to switch between different languages in the published material. In this help article, we will go through how to publish your material in several different languages.
A prerequisite for being able to publish in different languages is that you have created translations of your material. So that the material in your repository exists in different languages. You can read more about this in this FAQ: How do I work with several different languages in a repository?
- Click "Tools" - "Publish".
- Double-click the web profile to edit it.
- Click the edit pen next to the search field:
4. Click the edit pen next to "Språk":
5. You will then get a dialog where you can choose which language should be your default language and which other languages you want to include in the publication. Enter the default language and check the other languages you want to include in your publication. When you have made your selections, click "Save".
6. At the top left corner of the web profile, a drop-down menu will then appear. Here, when editing the web profile, you can switch between the different languages. This means that you can translate titles and designations into different languages for the published material. You will find more information about this in the paragraph below.
Translation of designations and titles in the publication
By switching between the different languages we just added and editing titles and designations, we can make the entire publication available in several different languages. For example you can change the labels of the menu options into different launguage.
Translation of content in panels
If you are translating to English, much of the material in the left panel is already translated into English. However, it may be that you have added tabs or information that is beyond the default settings, or that you need to translate your material into a language other than English. The principle is the same as for the options in the menu bar.
Translation of tabs in the panel
If you want to translate tabs in your panel, first of all select the language you want to translate to, at the top left corner of the web profile. Then double-click the tab's title to translate to the current language.
Translation of names in the publication
Under "Advanced settings" - "Translations" in the web profile, you can translate various names in the published material. It can be, for example, standard texts that appear when you hover with the mouse pointer over objects, or the error message that can appear in the published material.
