How do I import models?

To import models in 2c8 Modeling Tool you need a .bmt-file; a 2c8 export file. An export file can either be imported as a completely new repository or imported into an existing repository. Import models to a repository

To import models to an existing repository you start by opening the repository. Choose "File" - "Import" and "Import content...". Navigate to your export file, select it and click "Ok" to import it.

The first step in the import will show what the export file includes, for example, the number of models, objects, or document types. If everything looks as expected, click "Next". 

The next step contains these choices:

• "Overwrite existing content if it is older": if there is content in the repository that also exists in the export file (the same ID), this option will overwrite the content in the repository if it's older than what's in the export file. If you for example have a model in your export file that you edited more recently than the same model in your repository, it will be overwritten with the version in the export file.
• "Always overwrite existing content": this option always overwrites the content in the repository with the content in the export file. Note that this is only the case if the same content exists in both the repository and the export file, for example, an object with the same ID. 

• "Advanced settings": check this option if you want to make further choices about conflicts, versions, and users in the export file.

When you have made your choices, click "Next".

Before doing the actual import you will be presented a preview, listing all the settings you have made in the earlier steps. If you are happy with the result, click "Import".

Per default, you will solve conflicts manually when importing, if you haven't chosen something else under "Advanced settings". If conflicts are discovered you will get the chance to choose if you want to keep the version in the repository or in the export file.

When the import is done you will get a log showing the result of the import. If you want more information you can click the tab "Details". Here you can see what has been imported from the export file, and if something is not imported, the reason for that. For example, there could have been a model that was changed more recently in the repository and therefore was not imported (if you made the choice "Overwrite existing content if it is older").

Click "Done".

Create a repository based on an export file

You can also create a new repository based on an export file.

In the repository manager, click "Plus" in the top left corner to create a new repository.

Name your new repository and choose "From export file". 

Click the button "Browse..." and navigate to the export file. Select the export file and click "Create".

Now the repository will show up in the repository manager, containing the material from the export file.
