In 2c8 Modeling Tool, you can select maintenance roles for your models. Using maintenance roles, you spread the responsibility of modeling, reviewing, and approving your models within the organization.
Modeler: The Modelers' task is to edit models. For example, add descriptions, new objects, or add documents.
Reviewer: The Reviewers task is to review models and their information. This role makes sure that the model is correctly described methodically.
Approver: The Approvers task is to either approve or reject a model. The approver is the role that decides whether or not the model is an accurate description of reality.
A Modeler is either a 2c8 Modeling Tool user or a 2c8 Lite user. This role makes the actual changes to a model or is the one creating the model in the first place. Once the changes are made, the model is sent via the maintenance flow to a Reviewer or an Approver. Reviewal and approval of models are performed in the web app 2c8 Approve. Users of 2c8 Modeling Tool or 2c8 Lite automatically access 2c8 Approve, but you can also have users of 2c8 Approve without a license in 2c8 Modeling Tool or 2c8 Lite. If the model is approved, you now have an approved model to be published. If you need to update the model, a new version can be created, and the modeler can start the maintenance flow all over again.
How do I select maintenance roles for models?
There are two ways of setting maintenance roles for models. You either do it directly under "Properties" on the model or via the maintenance view at "Tools" - "Maintenance".
Set maintenance roles via the properties dialogue
Right-click on an empty surface of the model. Choose "Properties" and then the tab "Maintenance roles" in the left panel. In this view, you can set maintenance roles for the model. Click on the tab "Modeler" and then the button "Add modeler". A list of users in the repository will appear. Choose one or more users as modelers for the model. Do the same with the tab "Reviewer" and "Approver".
Set maintenance roles via the maintenance view in the Browser
A maintenance view in the Browser will open by clicking "Tools" - "Maintenance" in the menu of 2c8 Modeling Tool. This maintenance view will give you an overview of your models and their maintenance roles. You can also set maintenance roles on your models in this interface. Select one or more models you want to set maintenance roles for, and then click on the maintenance icons in the toolbar. You can select modelers, reviewers, and approvers for multiple models at once. Note that you can have numerous modelers, reviewers, and approvers on the same model.
Note that you don't have to add all three types of maintenance roles for your models and can choose only to select an Approver but no Reviewer or Modeler. |
